Post-19 is an educational service for adults with autism aged 19-25 run by the charity BeyondAutism. The service focuses on developing student’s functional communication and language acquisition as well as preparing them for adulthood.
BeyondAutism was founded as The Rainbow Charity in 2000, when a group of parents established Rainbow School with just 3 pupils. Since then the charity has undergone a remarkable transformation, growing exponentially in response to need reaching over 100 learners and families across our services.
In the 2016–17 academic year we ran a pilot of the Post-19 provision with one student in our Hub in Hammersmith and Fulham. This was incredibly successful and led to us making it a permanent service in 2017. Now, into its second full year there are 8 students accessing the service with plans in place to source a second Hub in a new London location.
